2019 Scout Pinot x Pinot Cult Wine

“The 2019 Scout Pinot x Pinot is our homage to the bright, crunchy and vibrant wines of Beaujolais. It is a blend of 85% Pinot Noir and 15% Pinot Gris from across the South Island.

All the parcels of Pinot Noir fruit for this wine were hand picked and whole bunch fermented in 500kg bins. The bottom layer was gently food trod before filling the bins.

They were then sealed and left to naturally ferment. After 10 days they were more vigorously foot trod, and allowed to finish ferment, before basket pressing to a mixture of tank and old French oak barriques. The Pinot Gris portion was destemmed and fermented on skins for 14 days with gentle plunging before pressing. The components were blended at the end of June and the wine was bottled without fining or filtration in early July.

It’s a juicy, slurpy and fun light red wine, best drunk slightly chilled.”
